Mohamed Sherif, Al Ahly’s striker, spoke ahead of the team’s upcoming encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
“We have an important difficult match against Sundowns, which will be looking forward to achieving a positive result to qualify to the semi-finals of the competition.”
“Of course defeating Sundowns in the first leg is an important step, but we still didn’t qualify yet. We still have another game in Pretoria, where we will be aiming to qualify to the semi-finals.”
“Our coaching staff prepared us very well for the first leg, which came after a condensed period of games. However, that’s what you get for playing at Al Ahly and I believe that everyone in the team is capable of delivering when called upon.”
“In the last period, we participated in the FIFA Club World Cup, and then we played in the league. Now we have the CAF Champions League, and after that will be playing in the CAF Super Cup. However, we are only focused now on our upcoming game against Sundowns.”
“Sundowns deserve our full respect, as their accomplishments in the past years say a lot about the club. Also, reaching that stage of the competition means for sure that they are a great team.”
“Each match is a new challenge for us, and personally I would like to make history here at the club. Of course, the trust of our coaching staff and the fans gives me a huge boost; as I always exert a lot of effort to please the fans and implement the tactical instructions of the coaching staff.”
